BETEN operates in the agricultural and agri-food sector in the CIS area, mainly in Ukraine, and in Croatia working on field crops (grains and oilseeds), livestock farming and organic aromatic plants.

Ukraine, country of 46 million inhabitants and an area of over 600 000 km2, is still considered as the breadbasket of Europe with a high growth potential that can be envisaged through technologies and high performance products transfer, livestock development, food processing optimization and funding. Indeed, many parts of the country benefit from the perfect soil called "chernozem" and have large areas still available for agricultural production (42.7 M ha of UAA of which only 32.5 M ha are cultivated).

The agricultural and agri-food sector remains the largest contributor to the value added of the Ukrainian economy, providing 12% of GDP.

In Ukraine BETEN has developed for over 20 years an important know-how in the fields of conventional and organic farming, livestock breeding and agri-food industry. In this country, BETEN also develops a project in the olive-growing and olive oil sector with the establishment of a new oil mill in Zadar region on Ugljan Island.

AROMATIC PLANTS AND ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OILS

In partnership with local producers, BETEN has been collecting essential oils and other aromatic products for 20 years in Eastern European countries. Operating mainly in Croatia and Ukraine, our company manages crop supervision, harvest monitoring, as well as a capacity to export these products to Europe and the rest of the world.

This upstream involvement enables to propose a policy of transparency and traceability. As an eco-company, BETEN is also committed in practicing certified organic farming on a systematic basis.
